Tailgate Tank Top

Are you looking for a fun, easy Tank Top to wear to the game?

Grab yourself a plain ole tank top.

You will also need some ribbon and thread in your school colors.

Our colors of choice are Purple and Gold.

Cut shoulder seams.

Fold edges 1 1/2" sew.  

This will make a loop to put ribbon thru. 

For an extra touch we added an applique design.

Applique is optional, but we used a

Fleur de Lis from

Planet Applique

She has some very cute designs!

Loop the ribbon thru both side and make a bow.

Ta-da

Fancy Camera Strap

Katie needed a Mother's Day gift to give to her Mimi.  Asking her a few questions about her Mimi we decided she needed  a Fancy Camera Strap.  The best part of this gift it is another quick, simple and cheap inexpensive gift.

I let Katie go thru the STASH of fabric.  She dug until she hit bottom and pulled a bag that was all but forgotten.  Sad- because it was a special bag of fabric from our trip to New York.  Yes I have to confess I am an addict.  My name is Suzette and I am a fabric addict.  This bag was full of scraps and a couple yards of this beautiful, lovely and dreamy fabric.  HUM...

When purchased I had all intension of making a lovely dress.  But, y'all know how that goes...I will make the dress when I loose a few pounds.  Well a year later and I am on the road to sewing my dress.

OOPS- I got a little side tracked.  Back to the making of the Fancy Camera Strap.

Supplies-
2- fabrics 2.75" x 27" or 1 piece 5.5" x 27"
fusible fleece interfacing (not needed, but I like my straps with a little padding) 5" x 27". 

1 Sew fabric with right sides together.

2 Iron seam open
3 Iron interfacing according to directions (remember to use damp cloth while ironing).  Trim extra interfacing.

4. Fold each end 1/2" and sew finished.
5. Fold each end again 1/2" and sew finished (this give a little polished look).  Sew 3 times to give a refined look.
6. Sew right sides together using a 1/4" seam and trim.

7. Turn strap outside right and iron.
8. Slip onto camera strap.
9. Go out and enjoy your new Fancy Camera Strap.

Chloe & Meiko

We have been sewing like fiends the past couple of days at Chameleon Girls on the the Chloe & Meiko special project for the children of Japan. Susan at 3punkmom.blogspot.com is hosting a Sew Along for Japan.




We had all of the supplies on hand, so we were in. A big thank you goes to Chelsea at www.pinkfigpatterns.com for coming up with this wonderful design and shipping the finished shirts to Japan.

So here are pictures of our finished t-shirts.

Some of our little girls wanted bows.

Bill said- I wanna be in the photo shot.

Together we made 13 t-shirts and had "sew" much fun!

ConKerr Cancer Pillowcases

I keep seeing posts about everyone's stash of fabric, so I thought about how you can use your fabric to put a smile on the face of a sick child.  Most of us have children of our own and pray every day, that our child never has to spend the night in a hospital.  But we are not always so luck.

ConKerr Cancer - "A Case for Smiles - Helping children feel special while battling life changing illnesses."  ConKerr Cancer was started in 2002 when Cindy Kerr began making colorful pillowcases for her son Ryan who was in the hospital for long periods of time.  The pillowcases brightened up his hospital room and put a smile on his face.  The pillowcases became so loved by Ryan that Cindy and friends began making them for other sick children.

So how can you help?  Join us in our quest for smiles!  Make a cheerful pillowcase for a child who is sick with cancer or another serious illness or donate funds to help us purchase supplies and expand the effort!  Donate through our our website ConKerr Cancer

How to make a Pillowcase directions

Use cheery fabrics for kids – colorful and fun as possible

Remember many patients are adolescent boys and girls, we always need pillowcases appropriate to teenagers

Cotton or flannel only!

Supplies:

• 3/4 yard of fabric for pillowcase
• 1/3 yard of fabric for border of pillowcase

Sewing Instructions:

1. Cut the body of the case 26 1/2″ x 40 1/2″ and the border 10 1/2″ x 40 1/2″.
2. Fold the border in half lengthwise, with the wrong sides together, and press.
3. Place the right side of the border on the right side of the body of the case. Stitch together using a 1/2″ seam allowance.
4. Place right sides of the pillowcase together. Stitch down the side and across the bottom. Turn to the right side and press.

5. Please finish seams so the pillowcases will not fray.
   
   NOTE: Make sure to wash the fabric for the protection of the children with suppressed immunity. Please check with your local chapter for specific hospital washing instructions. In addition place each pillowcase in a ziplock bag.  Pillowcases must be dropped off at a drop off site or mailed to the coordinator.  

How do you make delivery of pillowcases (Do not deliver directly to the hospitals.)?  You can find your local coordinator through our website or you can send me your pillowcases.  I am the coordinator for Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Avalyn's Dress

Third day of the Stash Busting Challenge and what did we do? As promised, we worked on Avalyn’s dress. We completed a very special dress, for a very special little girl. What makes this dress special? It has a panel that can be reversed and changed. What makes Avalyn special? She wears kitty cat hats and meows in church.
